Wiper & Light Repair in Hillsboro, KS

The short answer

If your wipers streak or stall, your washers will not spray, or a light is out, get it fixed soon, because wipers and lights are how you see the road and how everyone else sees you.

You always find out at the worst moment, like a sleety January evening on US-56 with a semi throwing slush across the glass and the wipers smearing it into a gray fog. Sometimes the fix is a new blade or a bulb, and sometimes it is a motor or a wiring fault, so bring it in, or we will come and get it.

What wiper and light repair at Moxie actually looks like

  1. We fix the cause, not just the part that quit. A bulb that burns out every few weeks, or wipers that work some days and not others, usually has a wiring or connection fault behind it. Swapping the same part again only restarts the clock.

  2. We walk around every light while the vehicle is here. Most people never notice a dead brake light or plate light, because they cannot see them from the driver's seat, so we check them all and tell you what we find.

  3. We tell you what it needs and what it costs before we start. Plenty of these jobs are quick, and we will say so when they are.

Why Hillsboro trusts Moxie with wiper and light repair

  • We check every light

You leave knowing the lights you cannot see from the driver's seat are working too.

  • An ASE-certified technician

When it is a wiring fault rather than a bulb, the person tracing it knows electrical work. Our technician is ASE certified in engine repair, automatic transmissions and drivetrains, and Moxie pays for ASE testing for the whole team.

  • Warranty in writing

Most repairs carry the NAPA 24/24 nationwide warranty for 24 months or 24,000 miles, and engine and transmission work carries Moxie's own one-year warranty. We tell you which one covers your repair before any work starts.

  • You approve it first

You see what it needs and what it costs before anything is done.

What wears out wipers and lights around here
  • Wiper blades with rubber worn or hardened by a summer of Kansas sun
  • A wiper motor or the linkage arms behind the cowl wearing out
  • A washer pump that has failed, or a line that froze, split or came loose in winter
  • A burned-out bulb, which is the simplest and most common cause
  • A corroded socket or ground wire, which keeps killing new bulbs
  • A blown fuse or a failed relay, the electrical switch that powers the circuit
  • Cloudy headlight lenses, or headlights knocked out of aim on rough roads
How we track down a wiper or lighting fault
  1. We check the simple things first, such as the blade, the bulb, the fuse and the fluid level, because that is often the whole answer.
  2. When a bulb keeps failing, we look at the socket and the ground wire rather than fitting another bulb.
  3. We test the power reaching the wiper motor, the washer pump or the light, which tells us whether the part has failed or the power is not getting to it.
  4. We check headlight aim against a wall target, since a light that is bright but aimed low does not light the road.
What we check
  • Wiper blades, arms and the linkage under the cowl
  • Wiper motor operation at every speed
  • Washer pump, lines, nozzles and reservoir
  • Headlights, fog lights, brake lights, taillights, turn signals and reverse lights
  • Bulb sockets, grounds, fuses and relays
  • Headlight lens condition and aim
What the repair usually is
  • New wiper blades sized correctly for your vehicle
  • Wiper motor or linkage replacement
  • Washer pump, line or nozzle repair
  • Bulb replacement, including the hard-to-reach ones
  • Repairing a corroded socket, ground or wire
  • Headlight aiming, or headlight restoration for cloudy lenses

Wiper and light repair questions we hear every week

How often should I replace my wiper blades?

Many drivers replace them once or twice a year, because Kansas sun and winter ice are both hard on the rubber. The real test is how they wipe, not the calendar. If they streak, chatter or leave a haze in oncoming headlights at night, it is time. A worn-out blade can also scratch the glass over time, which costs a lot more than a blade.

Why does my turn signal blink fast?

A fast blink usually means a bulb on that side has burned out, and the circuit is letting you know. Check both the front and rear signals on that side. If both bulbs work, the cause is often a corroded socket or ground, or a bulb that is the wrong type. Text us which side it is and we will usually know where to look.

Why do my headlight bulbs keep burning out?

Repeated failures usually point to something other than the bulb. Common causes include a corroded socket, a poor ground, moisture inside the headlight housing, or charging voltage running too high. Touching a halogen bulb's glass while fitting it can shorten its life too. We check the whole circuit so the next bulb actually lasts.
