Hybrid Vehicle Service in Hillsboro, KS
The short answer
A hybrid needs the same care as a gas car plus attention to its hybrid battery, electric motor and the cooling that keeps them healthy, and Moxie does all of it in Hillsboro.
Maybe you have noticed the gas engine kicking on more often on the drive to Newton, or your miles per gallon quietly sliding since spring. It still has an engine that needs oil, brakes that need checking and tires that wear, but it also has a high-voltage system that many shops will not touch. We will, from the routine oil change to the hybrid battery, so you do not need a long drive to a dealer. Bring it in, or we will come and get it.
Call or text (620) 416-0008. Describe the noise. We'll do the rest.

Text us which onesWhat hybrid vehicle service at Moxie actually looks like
We handle the everyday maintenance every hybrid needs. That means oil changes on the gas engine, coolant, brake fluid, cabin and engine air filters, tires and alignment. Hybrids often go longer between some services, and we follow the exact schedule in your owner's manual.
We look after the hybrid side too. A hybrid has a high-voltage battery, usually under the rear seat or cargo floor, an electric motor and an inverter, which is the box that turns battery power into power for the motor. Most of these have their own cooling fan or coolant loop, and a clogged fan filter is a common reason a hybrid battery runs hot and loses capacity.
We work on all of it, high voltage included. We use the safety procedures that work requires, read every module and test the hybrid battery before we recommend anything. We test and recondition hybrid battery packs as well as replacing them, on every hybrid make.
Then we tell you what we found and what it will cost before we start. Hybrid owners come to us from across Marion, Harvey, McPherson, Chase and Lyon Counties, including McPherson and Newton.

Hybrid service questions we hear every week
Do hybrids need oil changes?
Hybrids do need oil changes, because they still have a gas engine under the hood. The engine may run less than in a regular car, so the interval can be longer, but the oil still ages with time and short trips. Your owner's manual gives the exact schedule, and we follow it. We also check the hybrid system while the car is on the lift.
How long does a hybrid battery last?
Many hybrid batteries last well over a decade, and some go much longer, but heat, age and a clogged cooling fan can shorten that. Signs of a tired battery include poorer fuel economy, the engine running more often and a warning light. We can test the battery and tell you honestly whether it is failing or whether something smaller is the problem.
Does servicing my hybrid at an independent shop void the warranty?
It does not, as long as the work is done properly and to the manufacturer's schedule. Federal law protects your right to use an independent shop for maintenance. If a repair might be covered by a recall or the hybrid warranty, we will tell you so you can use that coverage first. Text us if you want to check before you book.
