Everything we work on
Moxie is a full-service shop, which means the list below is genuinely the list. If it drives, tows, hauls or sits in a field, there is a good chance we fix it. If you are not sure which of these your problem belongs to, start with what the vehicle is actually doing instead.
Call or text (620) 416-0008. Describe the noise. We'll do the rest.
We answer texts the same day we get them.

-
Computer Diagnostics
Computer diagnostics means reading every computer in your vehicle and testing what they report, so we can tell you which part actually failed instead of guessing from a code.
-
Check Engine Light
A check engine light means the engine computer has logged a fault, anything from a loose fuel cap to a misfire, and the only way to know which is to test the vehicle properly.
-
Electrical Problems
Electrical problem diagnosis is testing that finds exactly which wire, connector, fuse or part is causing a fault.
-
Module Programming
Module programming loads the correct software onto one of your vehicle's computers, or introduces a new part to the rest of the vehicle so it will accept it and work properly.
-
Overheating
If your temperature gauge is climbing or steam is rolling out from under the hood, pull over and shut it off.
-
No-Start
If your vehicle will not start, the battery is the most common cause, but what it does when you turn the key tells us whether to look at the battery, the starter, the fuel or the security system.
-
Noises & Vibrations
If your vehicle is making a sound it did not make last month, it is worth having it checked, because a noise is almost always cheaper to fix early.
-
Engine Repair
Most engine problems can be fixed without replacing the engine, and the first job is working out whether you need a cheap sensor or serious internal work.
-
Engine Replacement
Replacing the engine often costs far less than buying another vehicle, and it makes sense when the rest of the truck or car is sound but the engine is worn out or badly damaged.
-
Head Gasket Repair
A blown head gasket means the seal between the top of the engine and the engine block has failed, and caught early it is usually a repairable job that saves the engine.
-
Oil Leak Repair
If you are finding dark spots where you park or smelling hot oil after a drive, a gasket or seal on your engine has stopped sealing.
-
Timing Belts & Chains
If your vehicle is near the timing belt mileage in the owner's manual, or it has started ticking, slapping or rattling up front, it is time to have the timing belt or chain checked before it lets go.
-
Belts & Hoses
Belts and hoses need replacing when they crack, glaze, swell or start to squeal, and it is worth doing before they fail because they are cheap and the engine depends on them.
-
Water Pump Repair
If you are finding a green, orange or pink puddle under the front of the car, hearing a new whine, or watching the temperature gauge creep higher, the water pump is a likely suspect.
-
Cooling System & Radiators
If your temperature gauge is climbing, you smell something sweet or you keep topping up coolant, your cooling system needs a look now.
-
Tune-Ups & Spark Plugs
If your engine shakes at a stop light, stumbles when you press the gas or has quietly started drinking more fuel, the spark plugs or the coils that fire them are the usual place to start.
-
Fuel System Repair
If your vehicle is slow to start, hesitates when you press the gas or sputters on the highway, the fuel system is probably not delivering enough fuel.
-
Fuel Pump & Injectors
If your engine cranks a long time before it starts, sputters on the highway or loses power on a hill, a weak fuel pump or a clogged injector is a likely cause.
-
Transmission Repair
If your vehicle is slipping, shifting hard or pausing before it moves, the transmission needs a look soon.
-
Transmission Service
Transmission service means replacing the old fluid inside your transmission, and on many vehicles the filter too, and it costs a small fraction of what a transmission repair does.
-
Clutch Replacement
A clutch needs replacing when it starts slipping, grabbing or getting hard to use, because it is a wear item that eventually runs out of friction material, much like a brake pad.
-
Drive Shafts & U-Joints
A clunk when you shift into drive or reverse, or a vibration that builds as you speed up, is often a worn U-joint on the drive shaft.
-
Axles & CV Joints
A clicking or popping noise when you turn sharply, like pulling into a parking space, is the classic sign of a worn CV joint.
-
Differential & 4x4 Service
Differential and 4x4 service means changing the gear oil in your axles and transfer case and making sure your four-wheel drive engages when you ask it to.
-
Brakes
If your brakes squeal, grind, shake or feel soft, they need a look soon, because brakes wear out so gradually that most people get used to them getting worse.
-
ABS & Brake Warning Lights
A red brake warning light usually means low brake fluid, a problem in the hydraulic system or a parking brake that is still on, and it should be checked right away.
-
Suspension & Steering
If your vehicle clunks over bumps, bounces after a dip, wanders on the highway or the steering feels loose or heavy, something in the suspension or steering is worn.
-
Shocks & Struts
If your vehicle bounces after bumps, dives when you brake or sways in a crosswind, your shocks or struts are probably worn, and replacing them brings back a settled ride and steadier stops.
-
Ball Joints & Tie Rods
Worn ball joints, tie rods or control arms usually show up as a clunk over bumps, loose steering or a tire wearing out on one edge.
-
Wheel Bearings & Hubs
A hum or growl that rises with road speed, and changes when you steer, is usually a worn wheel bearing, the sealed set of rollers that lets each wheel spin smoothly.
-
Power Steering Repair
If your steering has suddenly gone heavy, whines when you turn, or a steering warning light is on, your power steering is losing its help.
-
Wheel Alignment
If your vehicle pulls to one side, your steering wheel sits crooked, or your tires are wearing on one edge, your alignment is probably out, and every mile is grinding money off your tread.
-
Heating & A/C Repair
If your A/C blows warm or your heat never gets hot, the system has usually been getting weaker for a while, and on the A/C side low refrigerant almost always means a leak we can find and fix.
-
Heater Core & Blower Motor
If your vehicle blows cold air in winter, or no air at all, the cause is usually the heater core or the blower motor.
-
Electrical Repair
A battery that keeps dying, lights that flicker or a switch that works one day and not the next usually come down to a wire, a connector or a part that stays on when it should not.
-
Batteries, Starters & Alternators
When your vehicle will not start, the battery, the starter or the alternator is usually to blame.
-
Airbag & SRS Light
When the airbag or SRS light stays on, your vehicle has found a fault in its airbag system and has usually switched some or all of the airbags off until it is fixed.
-
Wipers & Lights
If your wipers streak or stall, your washers will not spray, or a light is out, get it fixed soon, because wipers and lights are how you see the road and how everyone else sees you.
-
Headlight Restoration
Cloudy or yellow headlights can usually be restored to clear, and sealing them afterward is what keeps them that way.
-
Oil Changes
Most modern vehicles on synthetic oil need a change every 5,000 to 7,500 miles or six months, whichever comes first, and your owner's manual or oil life monitor gives the exact number.
-
Scheduled Maintenance
Scheduled maintenance is the list of checks and changes your vehicle's maker sets for each mileage, and keeping up with it is the cheapest way to avoid a big repair bill.
-
Fluid Services
Besides oil, your vehicle runs on transmission fluid, coolant, brake fluid and differential fluid, and each one wears out on its own schedule, which is usually in your owner's manual.
-
Pre-Purchase Inspections
A pre-purchase inspection is a mechanic's check of a used vehicle before you buy it, so you find the expensive problems while you can still walk away or negotiate.
-
Trip & Seasonal Inspections
A trip or seasonal inspection is a careful once-over before a long drive or a hard season.
-
Farm Truck Repair
Farm truck repair is about getting the truck that hauls your grain, feed or fuel back to work before the field is ready without it.
-
Trailer Repair
Trailer repair covers the lights, wiring, brakes, wheel bearings and tires on the trailer behind your truck, which are the parts most likely to fail after it sits between jobs.
-
Tires
You need new tires when the tread is worn down to about 4/32 of an inch, when the rubber is cracked or bulging, or when a tire has been damaged in a way that cannot be safely repaired.
-
Tire Repair
Most flat tires and slow leaks can be repaired if the hole is small and sits in the tread, which is the part of the tire that touches the road.
-
TPMS Sensors
A steady tire pressure light usually means at least one tire is low on air, while a light that flashes for a minute and then stays on usually means one of the sensors has a fault.
-
Tire Rotation
A tire rotation moves your tires to different corners of the vehicle so they wear evenly and last longer, and most vehicles need one every 5,000 to 7,500 miles.
-
Tire Balancing
Tire balancing spreads the weight of each tire and wheel evenly all the way around, so it spins smoothly instead of wobbling.
-
All-Season Tires
All-season tires are the everyday tire most cars, crossovers and minivans leave the factory with, and they handle dry roads, rain and light snow all year.
-
All-Terrain Tires
All-terrain tires are the middle ground between a smooth highway tire and an aggressive mud tire, gripping on gravel, dirt and mud while still behaving on pavement.
-
Winter Tires
Winter tires grip noticeably better than ordinary tires on ice, packed snow and cold pavement, because their rubber stays soft in the cold and their tread is full of small slits that bite.
-
Commercial & Fleet Tires
Commercial tires are built for vans and trucks that carry heavy loads every day, with a higher load rating and a tougher sidewall than a family car's tire.
-
EV Tires
Electric vehicles usually wear through tires faster than gas cars, because they are heavier and deliver their power instantly.
-
How to Read a Tire Size
A tire size like 225/65R17 102H tells you the tire's width, how tall its sidewall is, how it is built, what wheel it fits, how much weight it can carry and how fast it is rated to go.
-
What Load Rating Means
A tire's load rating is the most weight that tire is built to carry safely when it is inflated correctly.
-
When Tires Expire
Tires do not carry a printed expiration date, but many tire and vehicle makers recommend replacing them somewhere between six and ten years old, however much tread is left.
-
Checking Tread Depth
Your tires are worn out at 2/32 of an inch of tread, and they are worth replacing at about 4/32, which you can check in a minute with a penny or a quarter from your pocket.
-
Diagnosing Uneven Wear
Uneven tire wear means one part of the tread is wearing faster than the rest, and the pattern almost always points to a cause you can fix.
-
Power Stroke Repair
Power Stroke repair is the diagnosis and repair of the Ford diesel engine that sits in Super Duty pickups like the F-250 and F-350, and we do it here in Hillsboro.
-
Cummins Repair
If your Ram 2500 or 3500 is smoking, losing power or starting hard, Cummins repair here in Hillsboro starts with finding out why, before anything gets replaced.
-
Duramax Repair
Duramax repair in Hillsboro starts with finding the real cause, whether your heavy-duty Silverado or Sierra has gone into reduced power, started smoking or begun starting hard.
-
Diesel Injector Repair
If your diesel is smoking, idling rough, starting hard or losing power, a worn or leaking fuel injector is one of the most likely reasons, and it is worth testing before it damages the engine.
-
Turbocharger Repair
Turbocharger repair is fixing the turbo, the exhaust-driven fan that forces extra air into a diesel engine so it can make the power to pull a heavy load.
-
DPF, DEF & EGR Repair
DPF, DEF and EGR repair means fixing the three emissions systems on a modern diesel, which are the most common reason a late-model truck drops into reduced power.
-
Glow Plugs & Hard Starts
A diesel that is hard to start in the cold usually has a problem with its glow plugs, the small heaters that warm each cylinder so the fuel can light, or with its batteries or fuel supply.
-
Diesel Maintenance
Diesel maintenance is the regular oil, filter and fluid service that keeps your truck's fuel system, turbo and emissions parts healthy, and it is the cheapest way to avoid an expensive repair.
-
Diesel Diagnostics
Diesel diagnostics is the testing that finds out exactly why your truck is smoking, losing power, starting hard or showing a warning light, before any parts get replaced.
-
Loss of Power
A diesel that has lost power is usually not getting enough air, not getting enough fuel, or has been put into a reduced-power mode by its own computer to protect the engine.
-
Black Smoke
Black smoke from a diesel means the engine is getting more fuel than it has air to burn, so some of that fuel leaves the tailpipe as soot instead of power.
-
White Smoke
White smoke from a diesel is usually either fuel that is not burning or coolant that is getting into the engine.
-
Hard Starting
A diesel that is hard to start, especially on a cold morning, most often has weak glow plugs, weak batteries or a fuel problem.
-
DPF Warning Light
A DPF warning light means your diesel's exhaust filter is filling with soot faster than the truck can burn it off.
-
DEF Warning Light
A DEF warning light means something is wrong with your diesel's exhaust fluid system: the fluid is low, the fluid is poor quality, or a part has failed.
-
Turbo Noise
A new or louder noise from your diesel's turbo usually means one of two things: a leak in the air or exhaust piping around it, or wear inside the turbo itself.
-
Diesel Knock
Every diesel clatters a little, but a new, louder or changing knock usually means an injector problem, poor fuel or a worn part inside the engine.
-
Hitches & Towing
The right hitch is the one rated for both your truck and the heaviest trailer you plan to pull.
-
Ranch Hand Bumpers
A Ranch Hand bumper is a heavy steel replacement for a pickup's factory bumper, built to protect the front of the truck from deer, brush, cattle and the odd fence post.
-
Retrax Bed Covers
A Retrax bed cover is a retractable, lockable pickup bed cover that slides open when you need the whole bed and closes to keep cargo dry and out of sight.
-
Running Boards & Side Steps
Running boards are steps mounted along the side of a truck or SUV, below the doors, that make getting in and out easier and safer.
-
Lift & Leveling Kits
A leveling kit raises the front of a pickup so it sits level with the back, and a lift kit raises the whole truck for more ground clearance and room for bigger tires.
-
Trailer Wiring & Brake Controllers
Trailer wiring connects your truck's lights and brakes to the trailer, and a brake controller is the dial in the cab that tells the trailer's electric brakes how hard to work.
-
Motorcycle Repair

-
Small Engine Repair
Small engine repair is getting lawn and farm equipment with small gas engines running again when they will not start, run rough or quit under load, and Moxie does it in Hillsboro.
-
Motorcycle & UTV Tint
Motorcycle and UTV tint is window film on the windshield, windscreen or cab windows of a bike or side-by-side, and it cuts glare, blocks sun and keeps a closed cab cooler.
-
EV & Hybrid Repair
Moxie repairs electric and hybrid vehicles right here in Hillsboro, from a simple warning light to the high-voltage battery, so you do not lose a day driving to a distant dealer.
-
Hybrid Vehicle Service
A hybrid needs the same care as a gas car plus attention to its hybrid battery, electric motor and the cooling that keeps them healthy, and Moxie does all of it in Hillsboro.
-
EV Diagnostics
EV diagnostics finds out why an electric or hybrid vehicle is showing a warning, losing range or refusing to power up.
-
EV Brakes & Tires
Electric and hybrid vehicles use their brakes less than gas cars but wear out their tires faster, so both need a different kind of attention.
-
Hybrid Battery & 12V Systems
If your hybrid or EV will not start, has lost fuel economy or is showing a battery warning, one of its two batteries is usually behind it, and the small cheap one is the most common culprit.
-
EV Charging Problems
When an electric vehicle will not charge, the fault can be in the charger, the cable, the car's charge port or the onboard charger inside it.
