Window Tint in Hillsboro, KS
The short answer
Good tint makes your vehicle cooler, protects your skin and dashboard, cuts glare and looks sharp. We install Madico and Sharpline film, fitted by hand and backed by a lifetime warranty.
Bad tint bubbles, turns purple and peels at the edges within a couple of summers. You know the feeling: it is July, the pickup has sat in the church parking lot all morning, and the steering wheel is too hot to hold. The difference between good tint and bad is the film and the person fitting it, so bring it in, or we will come and get it.

See the difference before you pick
Pick a shade and a film and look through the window. You'll notice that how dark it looks and how much heat it blocks are two different things.
1. Pick a shade (how much light gets through)
2. Pick a film
How window tint actually works
Sunlight hits your glass as three different things. Good film handles each one separately, and that's why the right film can keep a cabin cool without making it a cave.
Visible light: glare
This is what your eyes see. The percentage on a tint, like 35%, is how much visible light still gets through. Less light means less squinting into the low sun on an east-west road, and more privacy for what's on the seat.
Infrared: the heat you feel
Most of the heat that bakes a parked vehicle is infrared light, and you can't see it. Darkness alone barely touches it. Ceramic film is built to reject infrared, so a light ceramic tint can keep the cabin cooler than a dark dyed one.
Ultraviolet: skin and dash damage
UV is what cracks dashboards, fades seats and burns the arm you rest by the window. The Madico and Sharpline films we install block 99% of it, even in the lightest shades. That's why tint is worth having even if you don't want dark glass.
Two films, clear prices
We install two brands we trust: Madico, and Sharpline, made right up the road in Wichita. Both films are fitted by hand and backed by a lifetime warranty. The difference is how much heat they stop.
Dyed
Great value for privacy and glare
- $75 per side window
- $150 back glass
- Old tint removal $25 per window
- Sharp, even shade and a factory look
Ceramic
The most heat kept out
- $95 per side window
- $225 back glass
- Old tint removal included
- Blocks far more heat than dyed, even in a light shade
- No metal, so phone, GPS and radio work normally
Windshield
Always ceramic
- $45 windshield brow, the strip across the top
- $250 full ceramic windshield film
- Full windshield film must be clear, and in Kansas it needs a doctor's or optometrist's note. We'll walk you through it.
Made in Kansas
Sharpline has been making film in Wichita since 1976. Ask for Sharpline and your tint was made about an hour down the road, then installed here in Hillsboro.
Cool without going dark
Ceramic keeps the heat out even in a light, legal shade, so you can have a cooler cabin and bright, clear glass at the same time.

Before your appointment: please bring the vehicle in clean, inside and out, and vacuum up any pet hair and dust, especially around the doors, windows and back deck. Hair and dust are the biggest enemy of a perfect tint job, because a single strand trapped under the film shows as a bubble.
- We show you real film samples against your own glass, explain what's legal in Kansas, and point out any factory privacy glass, because that counts toward the legal limit. You decide before anything is cut.
- Purple, bubbling or peeling film is steamed and stripped, then every bit of old adhesive is scraped off. That way the new film bonds to clean glass, and the rear defroster lines stay intact.
- Dust and pet hair are the enemy of tint. We clean the glass, the gaskets and the window channels inside and out, so nothing gets trapped under the film. A speck of grit or a single hair is where most bubbles start, which is why a clean, hair-free vehicle gets the best result.
- Each piece is cut to the exact shape of your window, not stretched from a generic pattern. Curved back glass is heat-shrunk so the film lies perfectly flat with no fingers or creases.
- The film goes on the inside of the glass and is squeegeed firmly to push out the water and air. The edges are finished tight to the top of the glass for a clean, factory look.
- We check every window in good light before it leaves. Keep the windows up for 3 to 5 days, or longer in cold weather. A little haze or a few small water pockets are normal while it dries, and they disappear on their own.

What wrecks tint and interiors around here
- Long Kansas summers, which bake a parked vehicle and fade the dash and seats
- Cheap dyed film, which breaks down under UV and turns purple
- Dust and grit trapped under film fitted in a dirty space, which leads to bubbles
- Film stretched from a generic pattern rather than cut to the glass, which lifts at the edges
- Rolling a window down before the film has cured, which peels the edge of brand new tint

Window tint questions we hear every week
What is legal in Kansas?
Kansas law (K.S.A. 8-1749a) says every side and rear window must still let at least 35% of light through, counting any factory privacy glass, and no window film can be reflective. On the windshield, tint is only allowed as a strip along the top, down to the AS-1 line marked on the glass. Clear UV film is allowed with a signed note from a doctor or optometrist. We check your glass and tell you exactly what is legal before we cut anything.
How long before I can roll the windows down?
Give it a few days, and longer in cold weather. The film needs time for the moisture underneath it to evaporate, and winding a window down early is the most reliable way to peel the edge of brand new tint. We will tell you the right time for the conditions on the day.
Why does old tint go purple?
Old tint goes purple because cheap, off-brand dyed film breaks down under UV light. The dye fades unevenly and what is left reads as purple, and by that point it is usually bubbling too. Quality film uses different technology and does not do this, which is the practical difference you are paying for.
